On January 27, 2024, at precisely Noon, Four F-22s from the 199th Fighter Squadron, 154th Wing, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, executed the Missing Man formation to honor the fallen heroes from the Vietnam War. The flight was commanded by Major Kealoha Kaawaloa and Captain Triton Peltier flew the Missing Man maneuver (J. Ozbolt)

10:00 AM - Escort
It all begins with the Escort. Under the leadership of the Legion Riders, American Legion Post #3, Hilo, HI, The Wall That Heals will be escorted from Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium, around the city of Hilo, and then onto Russell Caroll Mo’oheau Park. This honorable volunteer opportunity is open to all motorcycle riders and clubs. If you would like to be part of this historical escort, please sign-up here.
Please join us in welcoming The Wall That Heals by lining the streets of Hilo, especially along the final quarter mile along Kamehameha Ave.

8:00 AM - Wall Assembly
6:00 PM - Taps
6:00 PM - Volunteer Orientation
Beginning at 8:00 AM, Volunteers will begin assembling The Wall That Heals. If you have a family member or friend whose name is on the The Wall, you have the honor to escort the panel containing that name as the panel is placed on The Wall. Please sign up here.
The Wall will be available for viewing immediately after the first panel is affixed to the frame, approximatley 11:00 AM. The Mobile Education Center will also be open. Volunteer shifts will also start after the first panel is affixed to the frame
At 6:00 PM, Taps will be played.
Immediately following the playing of Taps, all Volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend Volunteer Orientation Training at the site. Training will last approximately one hour

9:00 AM - Welcome Ceremony
After a brief opening ceremony, The Wall That Heals, along with the Mobile Education Center, will be on continuous display.
Tours of The Wall That Heals will begin at 10:00 AM following the Opening Ceremony. Please sign-up for age-appropriate Tours here.
January 24-28, 2024 - Display Dates
The Wall That Heals and the Mobile Education Center will be on display 24 hours per day.
Educational Tours will be available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday through Saturday; and from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM Sunday. To sign up for a tour, please click here.
Taps will be played on Wednesday through Saturday at sunset and at 2:00 PM at the Closing Ceremony.
Thursday, January 25, 2024 - 6:00 PM - Agent Orange Awareness Ceremony
On Thursday, January 25, at 6:00 PM, please join us for a Special Remebrance Ceremony for all Veterans impacted by their exposure to Agent Orange during Vietnam War era.
On Saturday, January 27, at 11:00 AM, a ceremony will take place honoring those Vietnam Veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of their country. The ceremony will last approximately one hour.
The Hawaii County Band will play a 60’s Rock N Roll Tribute to the Vietnam Era starting at 10:30 AM
The ceremony concludes with an F-22 Missing Man formation flyover executed by members of the 199th Fighter Squadron, 154th Air Wing, Hawai’i Air National Guard.

Sunday, January 28, 2024
1:00 PM - Celebration of Life and Farewell Ceremony
Disassembly
On Sunday, January 28, mementos left at The Wall That Heals will be collected for historical preservation.
At 1:00 PM, the closing ceremony will honor Prisoners of War / Missing in Action (POW/MIA) while celebrating those Veterans who are with with us today.
The ceremony concludes with a UH-60 flyover executed by members of Charlie Company, First Battallion, 183rd Aviation Regiment, Hawai’i Army National Guard, Hilo International Airport.
Volunteers will disassemble The Wall That Heals and prepare the display for shipment. Once disassembled and placed in the trailer, The Wall That Heals will be shipped to its next display site: Kahului, Maui, February 7 - 13, 2024
